With its curvaceous shoreline and wealth of hidden inlets, Lake Medora is known as one of the best fishing lakes in the Keweenaw.
- Location
- 47.4387, -87.9802
- Don't Forget
- Fishing gear, floatation devices.
- Best Time to Go
- Summer to early fall
Lake Medora offers up whitefish, yellow perch, rainbow trout, and smallmouth bass to enterprising fishermen.
The same features make it easily the best inland lake in the Keweenaw for all forms of paddling.
Canoes, kayaks, SUPs and more are easy to launch from the put-in just off US 41 and navigate through the lake’s clear, calm waters. Follow the rocky shoreline for an aquatic architectural tour of the lake’s picturesque cottages, explore the lake’s intriguing backwaters for loons diving and fish jumping, or navigate to any of the tiny islands for a day of rambling.
Fresh Coast Tip
Kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards can be rented from nearby outfitters such as Keweenaw Adventure Company.
Keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles circling overhead. While this lake is a beauty any time of day, the scene is particularly unforgettable at sunrise and sunset.
