What is your cancellation policy?
All reservation changes and cancellations are subject to a $100.00 fee. In the event you are unable to stay with us, cancellations/modifications must be made 15 days before your reservation is scheduled to guarantee a refund. If your reservation is canceled or modified within 14 days of your reservation, you will forfeit the first-night cost of your booking. We do not provide refunds if you decide to cancel after check-in.
When can I check-in/out?
Anytime after 4pm on the first day of your reservation and by 11am on the day of your departure.
How big are the cabins?
Not big. These are, after all, cabins from another era, with room sizing to match. Communal spaces are the roomiest, while bedrooms are heavy on the “cozy” factor. Think extended-family-crammed-into-Grandma’s-cottage vibe, and you’ll be on the right track.
Do you have wifi / cellular service?
Big no. Cell service is not an option for any carriers on our part of the shore. We currently do not have wifi — not because we’re better than anybody (we’re on our phones just as much as the next person) but because we envision this special spot as a place for putting the devices down and getting in some face time with the stuff that really matters. (See what we did there?)
Where can I get supplies?
We recommend stopping in Houghton, Hancock or Calumet on your way here to pick up groceries and other supplies before making your way to Fresh Coast.
Our recommended supply stops:
- You will find a small but mighty grocery store in Copper Harbor (3 miles east), The Genny.
- Keweenaw Co-Op (Hancock)
- Pat’s Foods (Calumet and Hancock)
- Econo Foods (Houghton)
Do you allow pets?
Cabin 5 is our dog-friendly cabin. No other pets are permitted. Please read all of the dog policy rules (bottom of Cabin 5 page) and we appreciate your understanding and willingness to only bring your dog if you can abide by the pet guidelines.
Do you provide daily housekeeping/cleaning?
No, we do not offer daily cleaning or housekeeping services. While linens and bath towels are included in the cabin, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. Please bring your own beach towels. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the cabins.
Is the water good?
Yes, our water is safe. Our water treatment plant is tested daily and monitored by a certified water examiner.
What do I need to bring?
The following are definitely recommended to make your Fresh Coast stay comfortable:
- Beach towel(s)
- Bug spray
- Sunscreen
- Groceries
- Pizza-making supplies (if you’ll be joining us for the Friday night hosted bonfire and pizza cooking event).
What are your COVID-19 safety measures?
We are taking extra cleaning precautions to keep our community safe and healthy. We sanitize all surfaces with CDC-approved cleaners. Please refer to the guide in the cabin for additional check-out requests to keep our team and community safe.
By staying with us at Fresh Coast Cabins, you are confirming that you and anyone in your party does not have any symptoms, and have not been in contact with someone who has the virus in the last two weeks.
Tell me about your hosted bonfires
Join your hosts around 7 pm every Friday for a socially-distanced bonfire next to Lake Superior. Learn more about the pizza cooking and drinkshare a la Superior Fridays.
If you feel so inclined, bring your favorite beverage from home and add it to the beverage swap table (beer is a common swappable)! You can also bring your favorite 12-inch frozen pizza or get creative with a premade crust topped with your favorite ingredients for a little lakeside snack. We’ll have the wood-fired Ooni pizza oven ready for your pies. Enjoy some company and good vibes next to the big lake.
